What you should expect:

Each restaurant will be numbered 1-10, 10 being the most expensive option. There will be a short description of the place, what we recommend from their menu, the price range, and suggestions on things to do around the area. Because we all know that planning a date is sometimes the trickiest part of the rendezvous.

Keep in mind that these restaurants have been specifically picked out for their overall experiences, distance, and palate familiarity. You can click on the restaurants name to browse their website for more info. Enjoy!

1. Tierra Mia

Location: 11004 Atlantic Ave, Lynwood, CA.

Why: Who doesn't like to talk over a cup of coffee, Abuelitas Hot Chocolate, or Horchata Frapp? Although this cafe isn't necessarily a full on restaurant, it offers a great space for you to talk with your significant other over some hot drinks and baked goods. This would be the best option for a last-minute or weekday evening date. Keep it short and sweet!

Price range: $

We Recommend:

  • Horchata Frapp

  • Tres Leches Muffin (mouth-watering deliciousness!)

Things to do around the area: This specific Tierra Mia doesn't offer much when it comes to things to do around the area BUT what I have learned is that you really do lose track of time here. One of the reasons why this particular place beats other coffee shops, like Starbucks and Horchateria, is that you will most likely find a seat for you and your date (although not always guaranteed!).

2. Portos Bakery & Cafe

Location: 8233 Firestone Blvd, Downey, CA 90241

Why: Portos offers many options at a fair price. You can easily choose an entrée and some desert. With so many options, it gives you the perfect opportunity to be all cute-sy/flirty by sharing each others deserts! There are plenty of seating options, both inside and outside, so you can sit any where you'd like. It is the perfect restaurant for a lunch date. But fair warning, you will have to stand in line to order (it's worth it!).

Price range: $

We Recommend:

  • FAVE: Potato Ball Sandwich (apparently it's not the menu but I mean if you love potato balls then do it)

  • Cubano Sandwich (Slices of slow roasted pork, ham, Swiss cheese, pickles, Cuban dressing on Cuban bread)

  • Spicy Chicken Milanesa Sandwich (Porto’s version of the Chicken Milanese: freshly breaded Chicken Breast fried to golden brown and served with a spicy Jalapeno spread, mozzarella cheese, fresh tomatoes and Avocado mash in a Medianoche Roll)

  • Potato Balls

  • Anything that has Tres Leches

  • NY Cheesecake

  • Guava & Cheese pastry

  • Checker slice (Two layers of our original Cuban cake, a layer of Bavarian cream and a layer of chocolate mousse, topped with Belgian chocolate ganache)

  •  Red Velvet Cupcakes

Things to do around the area: Golf N' Stuff, Movie theater, and there are 3 shopping centers near by.

8. YardHouse

Location: 800 West Olympic Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90015

Why: Notably known for the drinks, YardHouse offers a trendy environment, perfect for a date around LA Live. Depending on when you go, this restaurant can get pretty busy despite being a fairly large venue (wait time ranging from 30 minutes to an hour). 9. The CheeseCake Factory

Why: One of my favorite restaurants that has never disappointed me, this restaurant is amazing with a beautiful desert option. Perfect for a first date, second date, third and so on! Their pasta option is amazing and their staff is attentive. You have the option of seating indoors and outdoors, but I would suggest (and prefer) the outdoor seating. 10. Perch LA

Location: 448 S Hill St., Los Angeles, CA 9001

Why: Beautiful city view, super trendy, live music, interesting drinks and low-key boujee. Perch is perfect for a romantic and personal night out with your date. This place is kinda like on everyone bucket list if you enjoy going out in LA. Must be 21+ to stay past 9pm.

Price range: $$$

We Recommend: It is a french restaurant so the majority of the menu items for dinner were interesting to say the least. Unfortunately, I don't remember the actual name of what we ordered but it had chicken! Check out the menu here if you plan to dine here with your date. This place is really trendy and upscale so please do yourself a favor and RSVP your spot! When we first went, we were lucky to be seated within 20 minutes of our arrival without an RSVP because some other couple had canceled their reservation. If you don't RSVP, you can still enter and try to find a seat and order your drinks.

Things to do around the area: Located in DTLA, this date worthy venue will take up most of your time together. My suggestion is you go here for an evening date for drinks and a view, after dining somewhere nearby.
