Vacationing during this unprecedented time has proven to be difficult. With careful planning and extra precaution, road trips and staycations are the way to break your quarantine routine.
After planning for a few weeks, Marco and I decided to take a road trip up to Santa Cruz. However, due to bad weather, we ended up cutting our trip short and staying in the Santa Barbara/Solvang area. You can check out our full Itinerary and Google Maps for more information on our trip.
The highlight of our trip was having a private ride on a horse by the beach. It was $125 per person for 90 minutes long. We also had a very instaworthy moment feeding ostriches at Ostrichland for only $6! Lastly, we loved the delicious danishes from Olsen Danish in Solvang.
The travel industry was hit the hardest during this health crisis so when choosing your next staycation, as more places open up, do your research on which hotels and resorts offer big discounts. Also, check out the policies on cancellations in case there's new information that may limit travel again, and keep yourself updated on which amenities are open as well as limitations they may have on their services. Most importantly, remember to check on yourself throughout your trip, checking for any flu/cold-like symptoms. Get tested for COVID-19 if needed and social distance after your trip.
